Dear members,
I waned to provide an update for the next month and gearing up towards the beginning of the pennant season.
Firstly, congratulations to both Deer Park teams represented in the UBC last week at Warilla. Both teams made the finals in all three events- some feat. Although coming so close to the goal, we are still proud of the efforts both teams and represented Deer Park with distinction. Special mention goes to Jay Bye Norris who was a real standout in the event and winning the ultimate toucher award for event two. Jay really mixed it with the best of the best and led by example for his team. Congratulations Ryan and James on such a successful campaign.
I would like to thank members for their support of the pre-season coaching and match simulation with all sessions reaching capacity. Not many other bowlers would be in the thick of a pre-season during the winter months.
BOWLS ON @ Deer Park,
August 19th/20th- 5 a side tournament, some of the best players in Australia are coming to deer park with representation from Tasmania and other parts of the state. Please come down and have a look at the action.
August 25th/26th- VBL2 Deer Park being the defending champions we kick our event off at Dandenong. The games will be televised on the Bowls Vic Livestream and I’m sure we will have supporters cheering the guys on from the sidelines. Good luck to new member Winston who will make his debut in the colours with Chris Ball another inclusion from VBL1.
August 27th- Match simulation, 2 bowl triples. Taking names up on the board and look out for the team app next week taking names. 10am start, BBQ lunch provided, free of charge.
September 2nd- One of the favourite events on the calendar, club graded triples. List is on the board. For new members please get your names down- how it works is that we do a graded draw, so depending on ability/ experience we select teams to be as even as possible. An opportunity to have some fun and play with members you don’t usually play alongside. Knockout event, so please stay behind and support the remaining members.
September 9th- Club front end trials. An opportunity for selectors for to trial members in the positions of front end. If you haven’t been invited please don’t be deterred- possibly we have you in mind for back end positions or are comfortable enough that we know the standard/ performance you bring consistently.
Following the next month please read below the opportunities before the pennant season kicks off.

September Sunday 17th to 22nd – Broadbeach 5 A Side, Gold Coast
September Saturday 30th – AFL GF (No Bowls)
October Sunday 1st – Practice Match v Wallen (away) – 32 players
October Saturday 7th – Trials v other clubs (Div 2 7)
October Sunday 8th – “Best in The West” Challenge
October 12th Season Launch evening, 5:30pm Dash for cash followed by light supper and speech.
October Saturday 14th – Premier v Geelong based team (Geelong)
October Saturday 14th – Practice match – Divisions 2-7
